Tour du Blayais - 39 km (24.4 miles)

Departure from Blaye: port, canal, Vauban citadel (viewpoint over the Gironde estuary and its series of islands), Pays Blayais history and art museum, Minimes convent, remains of Château des Rudel, Maison du Vin des Premières Côtes de Blaye, Estuary conservatory (exhibition), archaeological exhibition, Saint-Romain basilica, Saint-Romain church, Château Le Cône, port of Bernu (fishing), port of La Belle Etoile (viewpoint over Pâtiras island), Saint-Androny, Château le Menaudat, Bois des Gallets, Château les Alberts, passage over the former Blaye-Saint-Ciers/Gironde railway, sawmill, Romanesque church in Cartelègue, stopping point on the road to Compostella.

Campugnan, Château La Rivalerie, Château Boisset (14th century), Château Chante-Alouette, Romanesque church in Cars, and viewpoint.

Back to Blaye through vineyards up to the Porte Dauphine gateway into the Citadel.

Circuit between the river and the vines - 29 km (18 miles)

Circuit: Blaye, Saint-Martin-Lacaussade, Saint-Genès, Fours, Mazion, Saint-Paul, Saint-Seurin-de-Cursac, Cars, back to Blaye.
Blaye (see Blaye - Tour du Blayais), Château La Grange de Luppé, Château Labrousse

Link to the Romanesque church in Saint-Martin-Lacaussade and visit to the Maison du Terroir (presentation of wines, museum of vine-growing and winemakeing tools).

Or through the Premières Côtes de Blaye vineyards, Château de la Salle, Fours Romanesque church, Bois des Gallets, Château Les Alberts, Château Saint-Aulaye, La Valette, La Magdeleine fountain, La Garde hamlet, Château Roland La Garde, quarries, Romanesque church in Cars, 18th century presbytery and dovecote.

Back to Blaye along the path through the vines.




Berson Grand Pierre - north of Berson, 3.5 km (2.2 miles)

Remains of Berthenon mill. Grand Pierre (water tower), highest point in the canton. Remains of 3 mills of Boudeau, covered fountain and former wash-house of Gallineau.





Plassac circuit: from Blaccius to Montuzet -
    starting from Plassac, 4 km (2.5 miles)

Plassac: Gallo-Roman villa, museum, well, banks of the Gironde, port, hillsides of the Premières Côtes de Blaye, viewpoint over the estuary from the Virgin of Montuzet, winemaking conservatory of Plassac.




Saint-Genès circuit - around Saint-Genès, 6 km (3.75 miles)

Château Prieuré Malezan, viewpoint over the estuary and the vines.



Cars circuit - north of Cars, 1 km (0.6 miles)

Cars Romanesque church, viewpoint over the vines and the estuary, walk through the narrow streets of the village.






Blaccius to Montuzet circuit - Local circuit

Footbridge between the Blaye and Bourg areas over the Le Brouillon stream, on the border between the Premières Côtes de Blaye and Côtes de Bourg, Bois de Cugnet.
